Kathleen Lee Enters the Novitiate

Novice Kathleen Lee receives a blessing
as she enters the novitiate.
Kathleen Lee took the next step in her monastic journey on August 23, 2025, by entering the novitiate at a simple liturgical ceremony during Evening Prayer. Upon affirming that her desire is to seek God within the community of Mount St. Scholastica, Kathleen was presented with a personal copy of the Rule of St. Benedict, and her canonical novitiate year (a period of one year and one day required by canon law) officially began.
The novitiate is a period of training and preparation that a novice undergoes prior to making monastic profession to discern whether she is called to vowed religious life. It is a time to focus intently on study, prayer, and community life while deepening one’s relationship with God and increasing one’s self-awareness.
Now that she is halfway through her canonical novitiate year, Kathleen says, “By continuing to travel this way of life with its daily rhythm, I am learning how to set my sail with the One who walks on water. Thankfully, God has given me a loving and wise community to guide me through living the Rule of St. Benedict.”
